Papa bear aint gonna like this.
p.s: yes omg I just realized that storks are not that big compared to bears orz. just think of them as special storks because they have to carry babies of many sizes. how about the ones that will carry Giraffes, huh?! *defensive*

Title: Ice Cream Trouble
Duration: 3 hours
Software: Photoshop CS3
I've been drawing a lot of aliens lately so decided to do the same for this theme. I don't think there's any need for me to explain this artwork. If you wanna know who is the blue alien, he's the lil girl's daddy.
I somehow feel that this is strongly my drawing & colouring style. It's almost like Disney kind. LOL! Maybe on the next artwork, I will try to focus using this style until I develop another level. XD

Some of you might not get the full meaning of this but....
The horror stories my mum used to frighten me with... most of them included getting pregnant and being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
But I guess after a few babies, some people aren't as worried :P

We all know that accidents DO happen.
I believe all of us went through this kind of incident where you ACCIDENTALLY destroyed your precious artwork. Even a tiny little damage can ruin all your hard work, Sad isn't it? Don't you just wish there is a ctrl-z button in real life so that you can undo all the mistakes? :p

OH NO!! It seems like i have spilled coffee on my drawing!
Sure~ that's what i want you to think. To be honest, the coffee spilling was all planned out. I decided to do this manually instead of the usual Photoshop thing (digital art). So i drew this panda on my sketchbook, then make some sugarless coffee and topple the cup to the sketchbook's direction. Wait till it dries, then scan it in and upload it here.
Why i did such thing? Well, its just to remind myself and my fellow friends that art has no boundaries. Don't ever be afraid to express yourself in art. And also, don't rely too much on the softwares coz in art, you can use just about anything as your tool. Even your everyday coffee ;) But hey, i am just being experimental :P

This week i tried doing something totally not my style but thought Id try anyways..The mothers shadow kinda looks weird but oh well..
Today is little Matilda's birthday. Unfortunately she decided to play in the sandbox in her brand new birthday dress...10 minutes before her big birthday party..Looks like the party is just going to have to wait

GUY: WHO THE HELL'S BEEN BREAKING MY HIGH SCORE ALL THE TIME?!!!
GIRL: *points to self silently*
I wonder if this fit the bill on "oops". But i sure had fun with this one.
Had me coming up with techniques to show expressions. I like that. x3
Anyways, this was based on true events. The only thing that is different is the characters: the guy was my cousin, and the girl was me (yea, i like to break high scores in electronic games, much to people's annoyance, ehehe~" ^^;

"Oops! I didn't mean to- Gah!? S-sorry there-"
I feel bad for accidental troublemakers..

This time, im realli realli rushing this!
Anyway...I dont have much time to think about what to draw for this theme so this is the first thing that comes to my mind, a spectacle that is in a form of "Oops" shape XDXD Latest trend babehs~! XDXD
(wonder if its even obvious...its the Oops fashion! - i seem to be out of topic here..)

WARNING!! NSFW (not safe for work)
Griever: Mike, where'd you keep the vacuum cleaner?
Mike: Check the closet.
Griever: You mean this one?
Mike: Yeeeeaah....aaa
[Loud sounds, rustlings of stacks of paper hitting the ground]
[Reeis rushes to the scene]
Reeis: ...wtf?
Griever is stunned at the door.
Mikey is trying desperately to kick the mess of porn mags / doujinshis back into the closet.
Apparently the books have spilled out because the closet has been stuffed til bursting.
Reeis: Hey, this one's cool...Mike! I'm borrowing this.
Mikey: NOYOUARENOTGIVE
Reeis attempts to run away with the book,
Mikey tries to rip the book out of Reeis's claws.
Griever remains stunned at the door.
The vacuum cleaner is forgotten.
----
Why I drew this:
1. I really miss Innaguy. That gender-reversal
2. We've discussed Mikey having a humongous hidden stash of porn, and that someone (Reeis or Griever, I forgot) discovers it, which embarasses the hell out of Mike til he learns that his housemates don't mind. Reeis actually takes advantage of the huge pile. So, here it is!
3. I've been meaning to get back at Maiki for a certain comic she drew on Reeis >D
I handed this in about an hour late cos I was over ambitious about the illustration. Took TWELVE FRIGGIN hours to get all the linework as accurate as I possibly can, tonnes of research.
Coloring scheme inspired by some webcomics. Bright and light.
Apparently, my illustration skills is still that slow/crude/bleh
I'm glad I did this though, I now have a good measure of my skills. First illustration completed entirely on PS. Not even the initial sketches, so yay me XD
Would appreciate feedback on the drawing's impact, perspective & what you think about the scene/story. Thx. More close-ups on Mikey's dirty little secrets posted later in the comments section.
Details:

Mikey's loot.
Note the Domo and Panasonic vacuum cleaner rip-offs.

Pin up girl. Maiki, is she flat chested enough for ya? XD

The one Reeis "borrowed" from Mikey.

@Y'ng: Your colouring looks like it's improving! Well-done! and the character's expressions are very good XD some parts still look flat, like for example the girl on the whole does. but I know you'll improve on that in time! XD
@Daphne: omg now I REALLY don't want to have kids now hahaha. this would look like it could be a part of an article in a magazine or an online newsletter XD very light-hearted but still brings across the point.
@May Hooi: I loveeeeee your style hereeee may hooiiiiiii. I love the fish, I love the characters, I love the paint strokes. I love the feeling I get from this image, so cutesy and playful.
@Nat: WAHHHH this is like the biggest oops wei. your drawing of the panda so nice! but ya the coffee stain gives it a certain charm XD i like that.
@Andrew: Awwww she looks so adorable and sad! I like this style too, andrew =D I like the idea behind this, but I was confused at first before I read the description. Her face looks like she just got punched haha! Coz it looks like bruises because of the dark colour. Maybe what you can do is you make the stain more yellow like her arms. otherwise, great effort! =D
@Adam: I've always liked your drawings and this proves to be one of the best ones recently. It's sketchy but it gives that "raw" feeling that you can't get from cleaned-up versions of illustrations. your cross-hatching and shading could use a little work, but i still like it because it has charm ^^ your anatomy can use a bit more work too.
this drawing is playful, and i like that!
@Maiki: I LOVE YOUR BG OMG SO PRETTYYYY TOTAL EYE-CANDY *gets punched* *cough* This is soooo cute! I'm kinda speechless coz I can't stop saying cute in my head when seeing this lol!! Very nice work XD
@Kelly: whoaaaa i totally didn't see that! very nice typographical treatment!! very clever!! love the textures, and love the water-colour feel XD
to all: stumped again for who to vote for, so i will postpone that to a later date XD
January 28, 2010 at 2:28 AM
@Reeis OMGGGG I MISS INNAGUY!!!! *goes searching for old sketches of Griever* <3 <3
it's a pity you handed it in late coz I would have voted for you straightaway hahaha. but anyway, even if you were late by 1 or 2 hours, it's totally worth the wait! I love your easter eggs! so much time an effort put into this.
my only crit technically is the arms on all 3 characters look weird, in a stiff kind of way. maybe the least is Reeis himself.
Griever looks weird standing behind the door like that. one way to easily fix that is to have him holding the side of the door with his right hand XD IMHO.

Fun theme this one ^^
@Sara : Cute idea there! I wonder if it would work without the text though. And it's totally fine that the storks a lot bigger than the bear. I actually didn't see anything wrong with that before reading the comments because yeah it's a magical stork :D
@Y'ng : Oh wow I wonder what will happen next XD Your alien looks a little like the green guys in Dragon Ball, but it's all cool. Love the light shading though I'd like to see more of what you might do to the shading with hair. There's a minor perspective I feel it's odd and that's the briefcase being slanted to the left instead of the right (since he's standing facing that way).
@May Hooi : I always wish for a ctrl-z button :D Sometimes to the extent of going through the finger motion. lovely work done on the fish and "artwork" here. I'm really glad you found some time to do this for it's really different from your last. Keep it up!
@Nat : Oh lovely drawing and experimenting on traditional art. I understand that it's not easy to spill a beverage in the right direction, but your "spill" could be more tragic :) At the moment, the coffee stains blend very well into the image and almost seems like an unfinished painting (possibly because it only spilled on a small area of the artwork)
@Andrew : It's good to experiment outside your style once and a while and you did a good job. The shadow of the mum, though looks good, doesn't translate as realistically placed for me. The marks on her face do look like bruises to me too, like Sara has mentioned. But overall a nice idea and great line to go with it!
@Adam : Hahaha I'm finding it funny that you portrayed yourself as a girl in this image. Lovely sketch there though I'd watch out for the proportion on the guys arm :) Also, at first glance I wasn't sure what that thing he held in his hand was but after reading the comments I presume it's a game console or mobile?
@Maiki : The background looks great with the image so no worries :) I'm still very much impressed with your art style. The only comment I have is that the part where her hair gets caught in the button is a little busy. I didn't actually see that happening until after a few looks and before that I thought that she was the one who bumped into the middle guy.
@Kell : Creative. Not sure how to comment on this because type is my weakness. All I can say is that your submission was on a different plane than the rest of us :)
@Reeis : Hahaha fun one. I do agree with Sara about the stiffness of the arms and body. Perhaps a little more rounding and flexibility might do the trick. Or else it could also be considered a style... like a certain cartoon I might not mention XD Well done on the details hehe
January 28, 2010 at 3:49 AM
This weeks theme was fun...haha
@Sara : The idea is very cute and i didn't really think about the size of the stork till you mention it. The whole pic i think can be put on those hallmark card (the cheeky kinds..haha). I just feel like the picture isn't complete..Like maybe some shading or highlights?
@Y'ng : Wow I love how you colored the big aliens blazer. Can really see that this is your strength. But I also feel like the picture isn't complete cause of the blank background..Maybe its just me though
@May Hooi : How nice if life really had that command option..oh man that would be sweet.I love the detailing on the clown fish..
@Nat : Really cool experimenting..The coffee stain looks great but could be more dramatic i think..cause I really didnt think it was accidental till i read the descrption. But I really like that you did it manually cause its an important reminder that our hands are our best tools..;)
@Myself : Bugger now that I look at her she does look like an abuse victim..haha well my works always had a dark edge to them but i think depicting an abused child is abit much.haha..Yeah had some problems with the mum's shadow and the placing..was just experimenting with this style so hopefully can brush up on it in the future.
@Adam : Nice drawing man..But again its like if I didn't read the description i wont really know whats doing on...Maybe a dialog or caption?
But I like the characters...
@Maiki : As usual grade A stuff. Just found the white shadow abit weird..reminded me of a splat of white paint..hehe..BUt the pic is awesome!!
@Kell : Wah I love this onela..DAMN nice..actually she can also be for charm!! hahaha..Love the water colour effect on her clothes.
@Reeis :Hahaha haih wasted you din submit early cause this is my favourite. And you made it cheeky and naughty yet didn't cross the line..kinda..Can tell you had fun with this one..Just reeis's red tongue really distracts me for some reason..haha BUt IM LOVING IT!!!
January 28, 2010 at 12:01 PM
@Sara: haha very cute idea! the animals are really cute, but was hoping that u add more details in terms of colouring (me know that u can colour better than that!) :p
@Yng: Waaa... the giant troll is so scary. nice colouring! but overall the artwork looks a little dull, perhaps its the colour choice
@Daphne: o_o didnt know that such thing could happen. very simple and nice drawing. im always lookin forward to see your next artwork :D
@Nat: Cute pandaaaa.....!!!! Love the idea of spilling the coffee. at 1st i thought the coffee splash is some water colour effect. I think it will be more oops-ish if there were MORE coffee on the drawing. muahahahahaha!!
@Andrew: Awww... poor little girl. can see that your colouring is improving. human proportion wise still needs some work. keep it up!
@Adam: Although this is just a line + ink drawing, i like the simplicity of it.
@Maiki: This piece of work catches my eye when i was quickly scrolling down the page. love the choice of colours. love this artwork!!!
@Kelly: hahaha last minute work again? but doesnt look like one. love the expression of the girl, it's such a naughty type of oops :p the water colour effect on the clothes is awesome!
@Reeis: Love all the tiny details in your drawing. i can understand why submitted late haha, must have spent too much time on the details. everything looks great, can be published in newspaper comic section haha :D
January 28, 2010 at 4:58 PM
Yes guys, thank you for your comments on my super last minute work. Which is why theres no color to it XDXD
Time to comment~
:Sara: LOL now i finally get wat it means. All this while, i dont quite get the meaning of the art. When i wana comment then it just struck me what it actually means XDXD
Cute indeed. The stork looks blur XDXD Like what andrew said, it would be a great idea to print as a card for frens. Cute!!
:Y'ng: As per what most ppl had said, yes i do agree that the green guy looks like in d dragon ball, perhaps thats d dad? XDXD
Anyway i like the coloring on the green guy da most. can see u did put effort in coloring him, realli nicely done. But then the girl and the father seems like not much details in them and yea, it looks pretty plain with an empty background.
(Pls Teach me how to color that way DX)
:Daphne: Dear daphne, as per what mh mention, i too alwez look 4ward to your nkt work. It never seized to make me surprise with your different styles and thoughts. Cute & nicely colored. simple but interesting. I can see you;re getting used to doing comedy arts :D
:Mh: XDXD MH!!! finally a work i can sense u put time & effort in & no longer a last minute one XD The clown fish is nicely colored. Loved your color pencil skills as usual. I soo wan ctrl-Z in real life man! Oh! and the girl in pink, her hair is flat, u didnt put shading on her unlike the girl in blue :)
But I would love to print this out as a poster for my room XD So match design ppl XDXD
:Nat: OMG!!!!! HALLEILUYA!! MAMAMIYA!! PANDA!!!!! pan~ pan~ panda~
I love him~ ( o V o ) Im impressed with your fur sketching..can really feel hes really furry n huggable. But yeap ur coffee stain is not enough, doesnt feel that "accidental" enough. (psst, can i hav this artwork?? XDXD)
:Andrew: Hii andrew~ a total diff style from u indeed! Since d rest has commented on the bruise look a like on her face, i'll pass on that. So i'll say the white bg seems plain. Since shes playing in a sandbox, it shud be either in a garden or playground to feel more complete. But if ure aiming to make it simple then its fine to me :D Anyway good job in this~!
:Adam: Why did u portray urself as a girl? XDXD
But anyway nice work, simple n neat. U need to work on ur hands but other then that its good :)
(psst daphne, thats a PSP that guy's holding XP)
:Maiki: Ahhh~ such eye catching candy work. The overall colors are really fresh and natural. LOve it!! Not much comment cos its really really nice.
:Reeis: Can realli sense ur effort in doin this gal! All the porn drawing are realli porny XDXD cant believe its drawn by a girl XD n yesh XD this can be a warning poster for underage kids XDXD sumore with ur warning sign, it sure match alot XDXD
And after all that scrolling up & down, can i do more then 1 vote? XDXD
January 29, 2010 at 11:58 AM
Thank u all for taking my artwork serious. I'm dam happy to see real constructive criticism rather than just saying nice only in my work. Really appreciate it a lot. Thankies! *^.^*
@Sara: Yet again, you hv very nice idea. But would love to see u add in more details in it so that it doesn't look boring. I know you can do way better than this Sara. ^^
@Myself: Aiyak! i should hv added more highlight on the girl's dress and her face to bring out the form better. =.=;
@Daphne: As disturbing as it is, but the drawing is definitely very very cute. Would be nice if you have a background environment for this. It might give more impact to the artwork. ^^
@May: Hehe! the fish look very familiar le. Finally I see some real illustration work from you. I'll say this is so far the best artwork among the other works u submitted. You got my vote for this! Wanna see more of this ya. XD
@Nat: This is definitely very unique cuz you really did something out of the box. Great Job! But i think the coffee spill is kinda a bit too clean. Maybe you should tried spilling across the artwork. it might look like a real accident. But that's just my opinion. ^^
@Andrew: This is sooo much better than your first one! NICE! Another improvement from you! Do work more on your human anatomy & shading ya. XD
@Adam: Hmmm... I expected something like your last one. But seriously, I do encourage you to colour your work. Unless you can do a dam fantastic inking for your work. You alredi got the main course now try to add some spices to it. XP
@Maiki: LOL! The only prob i had for this is the girl doesn't seem like she hit the middle guy cuz they look kinda far apart. It looks more like an earthquake happening. But that's just me. Do work on your proportion cuz i see some parts are still off like the blue guy behind. His head is bigger than the body apparently. But keep up with the colouring, it's awesome! XD
@Kelly: Not much to comment cuz... hehe, as you said it looks kinda out of topic. But your girl is definitely sassy looking & i love your smooth sketching. ^^
@Reeis: Geez... and here i thought you hand up before the deadline. Haha! This has to be first porno artwork here. Love the details that you put in. Plus, your drawing has definitely improve. But need to work on your colouring & your proportion. It's still a bit off & stiff. XP
January 29, 2010 at 12:18 PM
@Y'ng: Thanks for checking om my work earlier and asking me to make the adjustments..Lucky me..When I was colouring her sandbox in I realized her dress doesn't really stand out cause of the colour so changed it to a white base and I think it came out better..Still working on anatomy and proportions..:P..Thanks again..ya :)
January 30, 2010 at 11:32 PM
Thanks guys for the comments and crits, appreciate it a lot. To be honest, i had a lot to cram last week; working overtime now, and if not, im in college, or doing assignments. That's why i went for something easy for this week's submission.
I also found out that my scanner's went full throttle and scanned the pencil shade residue that i hastily tried to cover but to no avail. Will work on that.
On to the comments! xD
Sara: Again, i said it a lot of times, the simpler it is, the better it is. Nice job on this one, although i think that if the stork puts up both his wings to his head, it will potray the message better. ^^
Ying: Liking the blue alien. But the drawing has a lot of negative spaces, yes? Not that it is bad, but it gives me an impression that there should be a lot more items in the drawing. That's my theory.
Daphne: Er...im gonna think that there's a tub of ice-cream melted and spilled~ *whistles*
May Hooi: Me? I want a Ctrl-C (Copy), in my life now, just because there is a lot of work to do now, i wanna duplicate myself and let them do the work. Ehe~ But nice drawing, and im liking the fish.
Nat: Brown-black panda? That would be a first.I understand that you dont want the panda to be spoilt that much by the coffee.
Andrew: Call Child services! We got an abused kid. Just kidding. The "bruise" now look more like her cheeks with blushes. And an interesting way to play with shadows.
Myself: All has been said earlier. Will try to reschedule everything now.
Maiki: After looking at it closely, i agree with Daphne: there "caught" part cant be seen clearly. Maybe if the girl was a bit further to the guy than it would be better. But, that aside, this is a great job!
Kelly: This drawing gives me a creepy vibe. The top lip part should be a bit higher while the lower lip should be a little lower to see the "oops" effect.
Reeis: Oh....emm, gee~ What were you thinking, gal? I told you that this is a general site. (But it's okay, i wanted to do something lik this too at first but had to scrape it as it was time-consuming) But overall, a great pic, although "Griever" seems to be a bit stiff. If he had put his hand on the door, it would look a bit better. Plus it will give him a sense of "What did i just uncovered here?" xD
January 31, 2010 at 11:06 AM
I voted for Nat's because I can connect with her picture most. Simply because I always draw by hand and have had that mistake happen several times. To everyone else epic work hope to see everyones on time next week.
February 3, 2010 at 3:39 AM
'Sup, Reeis here.
@Shane: Thanks for your comment man! Keep them coming, hope you can help out the others as well XD
@Cuttles: I will comment soon. Been caught up with CNY stuff. Don't ask anymore.
@Nat & Maiki: Iiiiiit's Feedback time XD Do comment when you have the time, k? Would LOVE to hear from you darlings~ Ciao~
February 4, 2010 at 2:11 AM
Reeis here again
@Sara: I loled once I saw this, so sweet! XDDD I love the bright colors, and the stork and kitty looks good. Bear's body needs work tho. Feel the body's form could be bulkier.
@Y'ng: Voted for u! coloring's goooood~, and I <3 contrast of the little alien girl's subtle "Oops!" and her dad's extreme "OMG!!!", and the boss's pissed face. Try matching the girl's skin to the father's skin color - I didn't quite understand why the blue alien panicked until I read ur description.
@Daph: OH. GEE. THANKS. That image REALLY made me go >.< Love the mum's expression, and the those around her. Like in Y'ng's, I like the contrast of the mum's subtle "Oops!" and everyone else's extreme "OMG!"
@MH: Spot on! I want ctrl-z too... good choice of font and colors. The purple really stands out from the grey-white background. XD
February 4, 2010 at 2:12 AM
Reeis's comments - part 2
@Nat: ah...this happened to me once. Epic disaster. I feel you suffer for sacrificing this panda artwork XD;; Maybe you can heighten the feeling by getting the coffee to spill more randomly on the artwork. Currently still feels "strategic". and yesh, agree with ya on not relying on software too much.
@Andrew: I think they looked like bruises cos they were pink-ish. Otherwise, excellent job! Love the "Oops~I didnt mean it!" feeling her big, big eyes give XD Mum's shadow and sandbox improves the story, compared to the earlier version (the one where Matilda wears a purple dress. Yes, I saw it XD)
@Adam: Overall, the "Oops!" feeling isn't strong. Maybe u can try an image of the girl beating the high score while he is looking on. Then the guy can freak out and the girl can go "oops! sorry!" On a seperate note, I love the girl's expression XD ganbatte!
@Maiki: took me 3 looks to find the hair getting caught on the button, and a while more to see him stepping on the tall dude's feet. Remember u're working with a small image size ^^;; good fludity in the character's gestures and the spilling drinks tho. Learnt from it, thanks!
Don't apologize for background, just do eet... XD
@Kelly: I like the hidden "oops" her glasses and earring, and the overall gesture. Concept ain't too strong tho. I dunno. Maybe u're just aiming to draw a slightly cunning character going "oops" XD;;
@Myself: Haah...Late submission cos I finished at almost right before the deadline, and then Streamyx disappointed me by taking another 1-2 hours to upload. And then had trouble with Flickr.
Spoke to Chaser, no need for punishment as I was late cos of a technical error.
Must take these things into consideration in the future >.<
Thank you all for your patience & feedback!
February 4, 2010 at 1:49 PM
Nat here, having trouble going on cuttle using my laptop. And been busy with work. Give me a few days sorry, i will give my comment ASAP!
February 4, 2010 at 6:12 PM
@Yin : Thanks!! But I should again thank Y'ng for telling me to make the changes to the original version..haha :P
February 5, 2010 at 1:34 PM
Hey guys, Nat here. My late comments...
@sara: love the simplicity in it and i so love your fluffy kitten! i wish it was real! good job! ^ ^
@ ying: everything is nice but i wished there was a bg :s
@ daphne: sorry but i feel a bit disturbed by this ><" but overall its a nice style~
@ mh: we have almost the same idea but i prefer urs better!
@ andrew: the girl's dress doesn't look dirty with dust to me, rather it looks more like she blew up something.. maybe should work on the texture of the dirt or try a different color or add details like crums of dirt and a lil leaf.
@ adam: not the kind of oops but its still great XD
@ maiki: WOW!
@ kelly : love the OOps you have put in there ;) and i love the girl's expression!
@ reeis: AHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! love the details XD
