I've been practicing drawing chicks for the past few days. So that's how I created her. But I still can't believe I was thinking of Buddha while drawing then. This wat comes out! As you can see her features (costume) & posture is inspired by the 'Sleeping Buddha'. Hope I don't get punished for doing this. XP

I was about 8 or 9 years old back then, we had a black baby bunny as a pet. We named it "Xiao Hei" (direct translation = little black) because of its black fur. Big sis and i will feed it and play with it everyday, let it run freely in our garden, watch it munch carrots and vege sticks.... Unfortunately after a few months, little black left us T.T We didnt know its cause of death. We watch it die helplessly, didnt know what to do....

That was ages ago, but little black will always remain in our memories....

It also reminded me of long ago when I got a comment on how sweet a moment I made in my old comics to have the couple characters just sitting together quietly instead of having a kissy moment :P

As you can see... the drawing doesn't relate to the theme "colours". In fact, it is the colours that i used and the colouring technique that counts xD (haha tricky isn't it?)
If you look carefully, this drawing is coloured using 100% colour pencil (yayy i love colour pencils!) and under each colour is a mixture of various odd colours. (you won't get this kind of effect if u are using a different tone of the same colour) What i did was blending odd colours, like light green + light blue + grey, blue + dark red + purple ......etc
(colours might not be as nice as the original piece on paper because when i scanned the drawing, the colour turned out to be less rich D: this drawing has been photoshopped to enhance the colours)

Lots of drama going on between her, Griever, Scy and Reeis. To be revealed soon.

Colours here supposed to mean team colours, as in the jersey players wear. Can also say this chick's true colours la - tried my best to give her a sweet face, but killer attitude.

Look closely at the scoreboard, she just took the other team to the slaughterhouse.

Yes, artwork has NO colors cos I've lost time again this week and PC's still hanging. GAH.

I was going for something realistic... hopefully I've achieved it to some extent. Had a few ideas for spring, mostly to do with the starting of the season (which I find funny because I'm currently experiencing the middle of autumn).

The lighting's not *quite* there yet, but I think you'd be able to see the dimensions of each object in the image.

Total time taken about 3 hours. Painting large files is painful =D

Waah! I almost forgot today is the submission! Must thank Daphne for asking. Thanks Daph! Since time is really strict for me these past few weeks, I decided to do a simple speed painting artwork for this theme.

Took longer than i expected for such simple image. Made a lot of changes for the tree cuz I couldn't get the cherry blossom right. Oh well...

Title: Reign Law

This is Reign Law (my male alter ego).

He's the twin brother of Reeis Law. Being the eldest twin, thus making him the oldest child in the family. Reign is known as your perfect kind of guy that everyone wants to be: Good looks, hardworking, smart, friendly, kind, all-rounder, cool, outgoing, well... i think you know the rest. XD

Sadly, behind this perfect guy, there's always a darker side. Reign struggles a lot with his inner self, either trying hard not to fail his family or chasing his dreams. People expects a lot from him, therefore pressuring him to be someone that he was not. Because of his selfless attitude, he dare not rebel against his parents wishes.

Reign always dreams to be a concept artist & comic artist ever since he was a kid. These inspiration came from his love of gaming & reading manga. But because he was the eldest child, he feels that he need to take responsibility for his family. So he was forced to cast his dreams aside just to please his parents.

However, halfway during uni, he finally got the guts to tell his parents that he hv decided to chase his dreams instead. Although he knew it was going to be a long road for him, but he strongly believe that he get there eventually.

Reign gets along well with anyone. He's easy to talk to & confront when you have a problem. Simply because he's an honest person & never takes advantage of anyone.

The bad side of him is... he's a freakin' workaholic (overly passionate with his work) & obsessive esp when he sets his mind on something. Although he presents great works but sometimes goes overboard with his perfectionism. ^^;

My "In A Guy" character XP full name, Noxandus, nickname Nox :D

He's hyper, crazy and fun. Yet girls aren't interested in him no matter how hard he tries, thus little kids find him very amusing. He is a slacker and a free spirit. Very laid back and is always the target for trouble. Deep down he's a good guy, but he usually gets misunderstood coz of his bad boy look. He also has an obsession of keeping his mustache as it is and is very reluctant to shave it off.

Nox shares an appartment with Kenny and Dainen, his two best buddies. And is a shadow to his cousin Griever who seems to get the girls most of the time no matter how oblivious he is.

Overall Nox is the joker among the gang, yet apart from being loud and sociable, he can have his moments of being a lone wolf at times. The rest is plain crazy XD

THIS version of the fellow is like the guy version of me. He's part of a comic called In-A-Guy that my Uni friends and I made out of boredom one fine day.
All the girls became guys in the comic, and vice versa.

Actually, came up with the character in high school, friends started calling me Reeis in real life and it stuck =) Drew him here settling some old scores as I'm in a pretty foul mood today. Feeling better.

Reeis Law is 2nd brother 5 siblings of a mostly normal family in a hardly normal story set in home, Malaysia. He is the "evil" twin to the perfect and wonderful~ Reign Law. He was a delinquent in high school, but reformed before hitting University.

He has as many faults as he has strengths.
He is impulsive, brash, undisciplined and critical of himself and others.
He got involved with gangs once upon a time to distract him from his troubles back home. (Long story)

However, he is also passionate, quick witted and truly compassionate. He really tries his very best to help those who need him. Often fails in his schemes and plans, which needs him to improvise on the spot or face the worst. He has learned to turn the his mistakes into lessons to keep others from repeating them. He is now teaching himself to trust himself, others and the world around him more. Learning not to give up too soon.

Worries about money too much. Learned (forced) to be a charming as he joined a pyramid scheme to help pay off his bills to help his parents out. Pretty successful, though hardly has any time left to do anything else.

Strangely, he can get completely lost in reading books, drawing or watching movies.
Entertains friends & teaches younger brothers about life with his special brand of bullsh*t. All this made him really good with words.

I don't share his past of drama or some of his successes as I'm not THAT ballsy.
We do, however, share the same dream : Being rich enough to spend days on end just drawing or writing freely without worrying about bills. Don't have a solid plan yet, but will figure something out. I always do :)

This is a representation of Dainen, my lousy twin brother that does nothing but read books and manga everyday. Unfortunately, I can't say much about that because he's really awesome at graffiti art and gets his money to buy what he reads from there (because people here are crazy enough to commission him). In clothing sense, he has absolutely no idea what looking good means and almost always wears clothes that clash. Luckily, this time it wasn't that bad. Unlike myself, he's also really good at blading.

It's a good thing I can always tease him about not being able to pick up girls. He's really bad at getting to know people and often stares at their shoulders instead of eye to eye. Living with Nox and Kenny, he's grown accustomed to more crazy things happening.

**Couldn't find a solution I liked very much so went for simple manga drawing instead. Had a busy 2 weeks too =(

This here is Griever de Souza, my male alter ego ;)

Innaguy came about when me and Reeis were sitting in McDonalds, doing some girl-watching. Ta-daa! And innaguy was born.

Griever's real name is Robert (HAHA) and he doesn't really like it, because even with a simple name, he always gets teased with the name "Bob" in primary school. And all the kids would use this dumb accent every time they said "Bob."

So, to hide the shame of his real name, he started to use the name Griever :P why Griever? Well the name Griever was originally from Final Fantasy 8 (which is his 2nd most favourite game BTW), which is a name of a lion. So with that name, he hopes to become as *cough* courageous as a lion one day :3 rawr!

Anyway, long story short, he shares a house with Reeis and Maiki. He has a pet dog named Sparky (who seems to be neglected in this drawing hahaha). Oh, he loves all animals. Here he's pictured with Lucie (short for Lucifer, named by Reeis because Lucie is always evil to Reeis for some reason but nice to Griever hahaha). Griever just gave Lucie a bath too :P hence why her bow tie is on the floor next to him.

He's also related to Nox, who turned out to be his distant cousin. :O

Apart from that, he also loves:
Cooking and baking (lol), doing the laundry (lollll), chocolate (although is embarrassed about it and hides it whenever he can), sleep, sleeping during the rain (the usual scenario is when he takes his laundry out to dry, sees that it starts to rain, says "nuts." puts down his basket and goes to sleep hehehehe.) he also loves good food. if he is quiet during meals, means he approves. :D

He rarely gets mad, he's always smiling or half-smiling a lot. Very quiet unless spoken to.
But he gets annoyed with crowds, which is why he avoids pubs, nightclubs, parties, even concerts sometimes.
But one thing he really can't stand are downright rude and rowdy people.
He is not a morning person. Don't try to wake him. He'll either go back to sleep, or unintentionally beat the crap outta you in his sleep :P

His fallbacks? He can fall asleep anywhere, anytime, in any pose.
He can sometimes have really bad eating habits too :O
And, as much as he says he'd like a girlfriend, he is incredibly oblivious when any girls like him. Even when they come up to him and ask him out LOL. Which annoys everyone else of the guys whose expression doesn't fail to be like this =______=""

When i saw the word 'Dream', this image immediately came into my mind. I'm not sure whether i should illustrate this but anyways it's done.

Until now, i'm dunno whether it's a guy or a woman. All i know is that it appears a few times in my dreams & it's all in white as you see above. I'm can't remembered how it really looks like but I do know it takes a form of a human. I doubt it's a ghost cuz i feel soothing when I see it so I consider it as some kind of a dream spirit.

This artwork also a test for my speed painting. Yeah, 35 minutes is still bloody long for this simple image. Using only airbrush tool with 30% opacity & 50% flow. XP

A superhero that represents me? Don't think there's any. I live a life in denial and constant weirdness enough to not need to save anyone else at the same time :D What struck me as odd is that the thing that people remember about me is my quietness... so tada! Made my own.

Meet Quies (Latin translation for Hesychia Greek goddess/spirit of quiet, rest, stillness)

Megan Quinones was a quiet shy girl that had always been a loner with her head stuck in the books. As stories mostly go, she's forced to move to a new and different place where kids see her as the easy target. Unaccustomed to the bullying, she develops powers! How? Maybe it was a secret experiment that she was involved in a blank part of her memory. Her powers are mostly psychological, tricking the minds eye into interpreting the five senses differently. Affected people usually find the sudden silence in their surroundings quite startling.

Character development as I write. Visual inspiration from Emma Frost of X-Men :) Thought I'd test the light comic book colouring.

Let you all know that this is only a sketch version. Cuz i honestly don't hv time this week. But i will definitely post up a colour version of this later on along with the new theme.

It took me a long time to figure out what kind of superpower i will have if I'm a superheroine. Had a long dam list of it. In the end I found myself closest to having superwarrior attributes like extraordinary strength & agility, plus also a strategist. I made her costume simple cuz I like simple stuff & it suits her nicely. ^^

I relate myself close to this power cuz that's who I am. Whenever i set a goal, I'll make sure I'll get it no matter what. I'll smash through watever walls or barrier that comes in my way. And I do lots of planning on how to get things done.

Nobody knows her real name, as she never divulged her personal life, but locals named her after the Greek Goddess of mercy, Eleus.

Her aim is to give sustenance towards those who needed it the most, whether they be poor or abandoned.

In her possession is a double-winged white oak staff, where most of her powers come from. She can use it to stir dirty water into drinkable water for those who are thirsty, or she can use it to stir up a pot of stew for the hungry.

She also uses it to fly to those who are in need. She has a sixth sense within herself that tells her where she needs to go.

Erm... Yeah that's about it at the moment. didn't put much thought into it hahahaha.

1. Draw a PORTRAIT of yourself or a character that represents you:

2. Any type of wing design that represents YOU.

3. Yes, you/your character can look over his/her/its shoulder / twist the waist/ hold a gun/ be buck naked. Pose as you want, as long as you draw yourself standing up and we can see the complete top half of the body, the back and the wings.

4. Use Plain white background cos maybe we're gonna cut and paste everyone into one big pic! Maybe turn it into desktop wallpaper or something. See how it goes.

I really thought that I will be doing this very last minute but I suddenly hv this feeling that I must try this new style now.

I got lost between wanting to made myself bare or with clothing. But finally decided on naked. Why? Because I wanted to put a Black Wing tattoo on my back. I want my wings to represent my strength & weakness. My white wing represents my strength whereas my black wing represents my weakness.

Strength is something I gain everyday with new experiences. That's why I hv a large white wing & it keeps growing bigger. But at the same time i must be careful or it will be rip out from me one day.

Why i made the black wing a tattoo? Cuz no matter what, I'll always hv a weakness. A weakness that I cannot get rid off, only I can suppress it as small as possible.

Note: Btw if you ask, nudity represents I'm an open person. That's all I hv to say. XP

I don't wanna go for a self-portrait, so thought I would go with the next closest thing: My In-a-Guy. I think Reeis already mentioned in before but we had this comic idea where we'd have all of us and our friends in our opposite gender. Well, this kinda works because I'm a tomboy anyway.

A plain long-sleeve shirt is what I always wear, the trump card to show I love playing games (but I think the message kinda slipped), the book is... questionable material, and the Cactuar and Mickey phone straps show my interests. I wasn't sure what kind of wings to show myself but I definitely don't deserve white wings because I'm too 'rotten' for it so I went for black instead, like a 'fallen angel'. :P

Decided to make a simple design basically because my style is never too fancy and exaggerating (after all it's suppose to represent me, right??) :p

If you look carefully at my wings....
The upper part of the wing is a upper case "M", and the lower part of the wing is a lower case "h" (might not be obvious at 1st glance...but look carefully hehe)

I'm lousy in figure drawing, so i made the whole figure pitch black. haha i love black!! So yea..that's my wings~

Interpretation: I went for dove wings (or... i hoped it would look like that anyway) because I guess I consider myself as a peace-loving person. i always try to listen to both sides of a story before i judge.
but sometimes this peace-loving has a negative effect, because I like to fly (ha, pun intended) away from conflict if i can't find a peaceful solution to a problem..

and... i cannot offer an interpretation on why i am portrayed without a shirt on (ahaha). sorry. it was automatic to me XD

Really sorry that my artworks are moving towards character designing rather than story illustration anymore. My schedule is getting tighter & tighter. Don't even hv time to think of a story! Since I'm also trying to improve my human anatomy & body proportion so I'll be going for this direction from now on.

I'm actually stuck with this theme. But after my parents took me to eat at Sushi Zanmai, for my birthday dinenr, an idea hit me! That's how I decided to design a uniform for japanese waitress of a Sushi Fast Food Restaurant. I would love to design the logo for the restaurant too but I really dun hv time at the moment. So this is the best I can do.

Originally was black & white, but finally decided to apply simple colour on it. Again I apologize that this is not one of my best works.

First thing of course I thought was music. Since they're more or less the same, why not!

Music really is a big part of my life. Because I am quiet most of the time, sometimes I feel like I can only express certain things through song and melody.

Even when I am sad, I just start singing and it melts my blues away sometimes :D

So, this illustration is just a depiction of how music would flow within one who considers music a big part of his/her life. It moves, it shapes, and it makes the listener. :)

p.s: this was kinda rushed too. I won't have internet tomorrow, so had to put it up before I lose it! :(

Title: Melodia The Blind Gypsy

This piece is very simple compare the last one cuz I'm seriously rushing with my other work & competition. My hands are seriously tied up this week. T.T

Moreover, I say that this piece has the most changes I've ever done. Why? Cuz I totally hv no idea wat to do for this theme. So I kept changing from hiphop to violinist to gypsy. The reason why I kept to gypsy was because of the costume. I think it suits a gypsy better.

As for the pose, it was really challenging. Another reason why I took soo long finish this artwork. I change from 5 dif poses but finally settle for this. The right arm lifting up was hard to do. Took a lot of reference & research for it. Ah well, this is the best I could do. Background was sooo last minute! I simply drew a long scarf to cover up the space & throw in a texture background. And look, I'm done! LOL!

Melodia is a infamous blind modern gyspy from Paris. Although she can't see but she can hear & feel the music through her mind & body. That alone is enough to make her a prodigy dancer. Melodia never misses her beat & she choreographs her own dance style. She's well-known for her belly dance & scarf dance. People from all over the world love to watch her performance cuz it's filled with energy & elegance. Music & dancing is her everything, her life source. Her motto is, "Don't think, just feel the flow in you."

You know the speed painting thing I wanted to try out a couple of weeks ago? Well this one started out fine. Head and hair took about 2 minutes. The rest of the body however, took a couple of hours. Why? I was trying to carry on the style used on the head, but the more I painted, the more 'smooth' it became and looked like two different artworks smudged together.... I seriously thought of beheading her and turning this into a surreal piece, but....

Also it just occurred to me that the floral sprouting at the end of her instrument would look nice more spread out. Mmm.

Well, thought I'd do something sweet after the previous, heavy works.

First thing I thought of when I saw the theme was the Unchained Melody music box I came across as a child. An Aunt also used the same song for her wedding.

As an adult now, the song still haunts me...Guess melodies have that lingering effect on its listeners.

Wonder what's it like to listen to the same song, and be dancing with the same person many, many years later.

Eheh, tried to go for this sort of imagery... The top right of the canvas end up being empty so I played around with brushes to make it less so. The 'muse's design is loosely inspired by the music symbols "treble clef" and "bass clef".

Love is a battlefield, so shield your heart.

Notes: gwah, this theme was so hard. the first thing that came to my mind was the song "Love is a Battlefield" (no not the Jordan Sparks's one)
So, after much "conceptualizing" (if you can call changing ideas many times that) I decided to just design a shield with a heart emblem on it. Added some swords to make it look more menacing =P

This took me easily 3 hours because the damn shield is so hard to look right TAT I officially hate gradients and will stay far away from it as I can, for now. meh.

p.s: everything is done in Illustrator. vector form. hand-drawn. with a mouse. gwah.

It occur to me that most people don't know what I do for a living. When they asked and I reply "I am a compositor for a 2D animation company.", they would go.. "oh.. so what do you do/compose?". XD; and I find it really hard to explain it all to make them understand.

Therefore, for this theme I decided to demonstrate my "job" as a compositor. And I am sorry cuttles, but this time I will be straight forward with the theme instead of having an "inner meaning" inside and straight forward with the camera angles ne? XD Alright, so as you all can see.. this is probly how you see an anime/animation movie scene will look in the end. (i'm not that good yet so forgive me for the minor detail errors! ><) See, this is how it works... animators and background artists will provide me with a scene that looks like below:

It looks flat doesn't it? And a bit weird too. So then I will render out each layer (yes, each and every freaking layer!) from the scene and i will re-arrange them together again in my video editing software. (in the office i use Shake but for this one I use After Effects and Final Cut Pro). Then I will follow the mood of the story. Let's say this is suppose to be a warm sunset scene where these 2 guys are fighting over 'if the tooth fairy really exist..' (LOL) and I will do my best to make it look and feel like they are washed in sunset light. So I am the person who adds in all these 'realistic' details into the scene to make it believable and look presentable.

There's still more things of what I do in my job, maybe I'll demonstrate again when I have the time and inspiration :) so please enjoy what i have for now~ in the mean time I'll continue being experimental LOL!

(For this art I used photoshop for the BG and flash for the characters. Tutorial for BG i got it from: http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/photoshop/landscape/index3.html and these are my own characters and they have nothing to do with the company that I am working in now. And based on my drawing skills and coloring.. now you guys know why I am not the animator or BG artist LOL!! I suck XD)

It was a really good topic and a generous amount of time, but there was just too much going on right now that I will only say one on one.

Anywhoozle! Finally had time to sit for one whole day just sketching and planning and painting and scrapping and finally ended up with this =) Not as epic as I had in mind, but I hope you guys like it.

6+ hours of detailing you can't see (even at the max set size) and I think the boys face angle still kinda sucks. This is not a speed painting by the way, need to find peace of mind and time to knuckle that practice down.

Title: Synn Chastity The Angel Reaper

This is definitely a very different style compare to my previous cuttle work. Thanks my super-duper busy CNY week, I actually almost forgot to do my cuttle work. Only realize it last Sunday midnight. So due to short of time, I decided to go for only Black & White.

Synn Chastity is the younger twin of the Synn Sisters. Their job is to hunt down angels who defy god's order & execute them. The giant scythe that the Sisters wield are actually demon scythe which has the ability to detect angels in disguise as human on Earth. I decided to do the younger twin instead of the older twin cuz I needed time to learn cloth colouring.

For this artwork, I used a lot of reference from Marvel & DC comic books that I borrow from my sifu. I took quite some time to study up the human proportion & body movement. I tell ya it was bloody hard! I only used one normal solid brush (no airbrush) with opacity: 10% and flow: 100%. Then just apply burn & dodge tool. Originally, there's no background at all. But finally decided to just add in to give a better view/perspective although it's in sketch. ^^;

Despite the long hours i spent for this artwork, this is actually a rush one. I only got time to do it after midnight cuz I was practically out almost whole day from morning till night. So I had to spend 3 midnights to finish it. However, I admit that I enjoyed doing this artwork a lot cuz it's really challenging for me to do proper human proportion + body movement & it also sets another level for me. So YAY!

Note: I notice majority of the super heroines has BIG boobs. So I just can't help but hv Chastity with big boobies too. XD

I had fun with this theme.. And because we had 2 weeks to do it I kinda got abit too carried away. My original Idea was just supposed to be a battle scene between 2 characters but it expanded to 8..:P

This week I decided to have fun with it and just have a straight forward interpretation of the theme. The classic and epic clash of Good vs Evil.So I came up with 8 characters based on the many RPG's, anime and comics we have read.

Each character took about 3 - 4 hours to complete. I still need to work on the anatomy..damn fingers and legs!!

Here is just a brief description of the Heroes

PS : Stephan's weapon is his sword that he can engulf in fire and control. I got the idea from a character in Bleach Rangiku Matsumoto whose sword or Zanpakutō can transform into ash which the she controls.

Eve summons Scarlet...i wanted at first to draw Eve summoning a guardian angel but thought that that would be too common so I made her guardian a bit more aggressive and edgy..You see her flames are so hot that even she needs to wear a blindfold..haha

PS : Samuel was a fluke. He wasnt supposed to be in the roster but i was just messing around with shading and the and i kinda liked how he started to look so i developed and designed him further.

Rose was inspired by a game i used to play on the PC years ago. Dungeon Keeper. In it there is a character/creature that is a dominatrix who loved pain..Like to lure her to your dungeon you needed to build a torture chamber..Go figure..She was always my favorite character to use.haha

Krul was the 1st character i completed. After completing all the character and placing them in the battle arena I realized I should have done Krul facing the heroes instead of facing us. But i didn't have time to adjust it..oh well.

It looks... okay as a thumbnail, but I'm gonna outright say that I did a bad job with this. The colours are quite bad and in order to finish this on time, I rushed so many details and a lot of things are missing here, oops... I'm sorry that I have to hand up an 'unfinished work' here but I'll try to experiment more with this behind the scenes.

Either way, I decided to pull out some of my original characters to portray a battle scene; below are the protagonists and up in the sky are their opponents who are a pair of powerful twins. There's more story behind this but I personally won't go beyond because I'm a bit disappointed with this pic to 'brag' about it. ^_^;;

Mum, you're my first love you are my heart :)

To me, unconditional love is the biggest Heart in the world~!

I heard this story from my parents when i turned 20. While my mum was expecting me, doctors warned her of some complications that i might have when i'm born due to her age. Afterall, i was an after thought. But my parents told the doctors that its okay, they will leave it to God, but no matter what, they will love me for who i am.

Good thing, i was born as a healthy baby with no problems at all. But while i was growing up, most children and adults find me weird in terms i am too quiet or me not behaving like how a girl should be behaving? Yeah, there were times i would run crying to my mum and asked her why am i so different? It feels lonely. And she would come hugging me, with her soft warm smile and say "its okay to be different cause everyone is, in their own way. And me and daddy love you for being the way you are." :)

So when i saw this week's theme as 'Heart' she's the first thought that crosses my mind. This drawing is from a picture of me and my mum taken a very long time ago when i was that size! XD I cant draw real life sketch but i just do what i can for now. Its a real sketch with some Photoshop coloring. ^ ^ have a great week!

Title: Horace's Poor Eyesight

Horace is a junior agent cupid working for 'Loveheart. Inc.' His job is to match-make couples during Valentine's Day. Sadly he has remained as a junior for more than hundred years. You see, Horace was born with a very poor eyesight. So he has a big problem differentiating a guy & a girl. In fact, he just gotten his specs change... for the 36th time.

He often gotten yelled/lectured by his long-time senior & best friend, Trevis. After he's done scolding, Trevis will let Horace off the hook cuz he is one of the few cupids who knew Horace's eyesight problem. For that, Horace was grateful & thankful towards his friend.

Thanks to Horace the number of gays has increase during Valentine's Day. Not that I mind at all. Hehe! I'm sure you all know what I mean. (*^.^*)

This artwork took me the longest to do cuz I made a lot of changes in it, from composition, detailing to background. I redid it twice. But due to short of time, i just settle for this. Btw, the 2 guys at the back supposedly to be flat 2D but last minute added some tone & shading so that it pops out from the big heart behind.

I do hope the picture and poem conveys the story to the viewers.The man had sort of a half smile on his face because i wanted to portray him as though heartbroken at the loss of his loved one, he has come to terms with her death thus finding closure.

Ok. This weeks theme was a hard one for me..I really wanted to come up with something that was kinda meaningful and sweet (and not just another chick with too little to wear...:P) but I'm not the most sentimental guy around so I was afraid it would come out being really mushy and tacky...So just bear with me..haha

Well, the deadline for this theme IS near Valentine's Day after all, so I couldn't resist! Here's a huge heart-shaped box full of chocolates and candies for everyone! :D Hearts to ya all!

The end result ends up looking a bit too busy, but I didn't want to make the BG look to plain either, so sorry if it's a bit cluttered on eyes! I spent about 6-7 hours on this and I even drew this on Livestream on last Saturday and Monday. It was a fun experience and thanks to those who helped me coordinating the colours. :D

I didn't have a solid idea for this theme, but hope you kinda get what I mean here. Currently coughing out bloody phlegm ahaha.

Testing speed painting techniques, but hopefully the next one will be better. I can give you reasons why I think the technique can't work on my computer, but I wont. Practice practice~

I thought "charm" would be such a cute theme, but the first thing that came to my mind was this image of deception. Not sure how others would read this, but it was certainly a fun little idea to experiment with.

Title: Unlucky Winnie

Winnie is a young witch in training. She could have been one of the best students if she wasn't cursed by bad luck wherever she goes. In order to prevent from failing her training, Winnie has to wear a charm necklace given by her grandma who is a very well-known & powerful witch. Every month, she receives a new charm necklace. So now she has about 11 necklaces, therefore giving her a hard time to pick which one to wear for the day.

Winnie is always seen with her cat, Selina & her broom, Mr.Wood. They constant look out on her well-being despite being affected by her bad luck. Even with her wearing her a charm necklace, Winnie tendency to be oblivious with her surroundings.

Will she ever pass her training & overcome this curse? We will hv to wait & see. ^^

This theme was tough for me. I seriously had no idea what to draw as a charm. Until Tuesday came and i had to pass this gift Daphne got for Ruthie... and it was some japanese doll keychain. What surprises me was that when Ruthie took it out from the box, there was a hidden message behind the doll box and it says:

"My spirit honors truth and inspires trust. By honoring and seeking truth in all you preserve my spirit. Let your integrity be the hallmark of all your actions and you will inspire trust." - Masako (Doll of Honesty)

She then asked me if its some kind of charm and then it struck me to straight away draw what was on my mind at the thought of the scene XD imagine if the doll really had some kind of spiritual powers that grants Ruthie to be honest and never lie again! that would be so funny ahhahaha!!!

Really loved this week's theme.

The traditional Geisha's were known as walking pieces of art and they exemplify this with their grace, poise and beauty. But what I think made them desirable was the fact that they were always shrouded in mystery and that was a major part of their charm..

Though the traditional geisha .
always wore elaborate kimono's which pretty much covered them from head to toe. Madoka, a modern day geisha takes a more edgy (and provocative) approach to the overall outlook....

This week's topic is Charm, and I drew my original demi-god character, Quellis, casting a Charm. Stoic, doesn't get out much, has sickly pale complexion and smoke for hair. Has a good heart. Tried my best to make him look regal.

To me, a Charm allows you to control something. Or Someone. So I translated a Charm as a warm, bright and very sudden spell that envelopes the one it has been casted on. Very "in-your-face" once it's been cast your way.

They draw energy from men to sustain themselves. This results in the man's death in most cases.

OH NO!! It seems like i have spilled coffee on my drawing!

Sure~ that's what i want you to think. To be honest, the coffee spilling was all planned out. I decided to do this manually instead of the usual Photoshop thing (digital art). So i drew this panda on my sketchbook, then make some sugarless coffee and topple the cup to the sketchbook's direction. Wait till it dries, then scan it in and upload it here.

Why i did such thing? Well, its just to remind myself and my fellow friends that art has no boundaries. Don't ever be afraid to express yourself in art. And also, don't rely too much on the softwares coz in art, you can use just about anything as your tool. Even your everyday coffee ;) But hey, i am just being experimental :P

Why I drew this:
1. I really miss Innaguy. That gender-reversal comic from our Uni days...
2. We've discussed Mikey having a humongous hidden stash of porn, and that someone (Reeis or Griever, I forgot) discovers it, which embarasses the hell out of Mike til he learns that his housemates don't mind. Reeis actually takes advantage of the huge pile. So, here it is!
3. I've been meaning to get back at Maiki for a certain comic she drew on Reeis >D

I handed this in about an hour late cos I was over ambitious about the illustration. Took TWELVE FRIGGIN hours to get all the linework as accurate as I possibly can, tonnes of research.
Coloring scheme inspired by some webcomics. Bright and light.

Apparently, my illustration skills is still that slow/crude/bleh.
I'm glad I did this though, I now have a good measure of my skills. First illustration completed entirely on PS. Not even the initial sketches, so yay me XD

When i thought of flight a butterfly popped into my mind for some reason.So i just went with it This is Madame butterfly and her bad-ass side kick Spegg...I made her kinda borderline goth/emo but with feminine butterfly wings to portray a contrast in personality that people have..Same goes for her sidekick.I tried making him cute with his mini wings but he obviously has an attitude..:P

When talking about flight, I always remember Icarus; the Greek mythology about the boy who flew too close to the sun that his wax and feather wings melted and he plummeted into the sea. Lots of pictures depict the parts before his take of, the melting and falling of Icarus. I wanted to depict the part where the decision was made, at the pinnacle where the story divided.

Between buying and packing, flying to another continent, spending precious time with friends and family, and my dad hogging my laptop, I didn't have much time this week to complete the task.

Will have to get faster and better =)

I dedicate this drawing to my brother, Danial.

He has always wanted to become a pilot ever since he was 15. But he thought he couldn't because he does not have 20/20 vision. But he knew what his dreams were, even when they seemed to be impossible for him. He was so miserable when he went through engineering. It made him even more sure that piloting was his dream.

But against all odds, and sometimes I believed it was divine intervention, he is now a MAS cadet and about to graduate next month. For 5 years he held on to his dream and he got it in the end.

Needless to say it wasn't an easy journey, but I believe he knows it's all worth it.

And so I decided for this theme, I drew for him a little graduation present. That is him, with his two bars (see his shoulder) signifying that he can now fly twin-engine aircrafts. The plane he is flying is a Diamond DA40 that (I think) he used for training.

Lastly I want to say, his story is inspiring to me. It taught me to never ever EVER let go of my dreams and to fight for it. And that the sky is not the limit.

And as a sister, I'm proud to see my little brother spread his wings, finally take flight =)

p.s: I didn't know until now that he is currently flying this plane. my bad. the engines are damn hard to draw anyway lolololol.

Artist's Comments

Story Behind the Logo:
Poor Luigi came all the way from Sicily to New York. Had only 5 USD in his pocket. Worked hard, saved all he could, and dreamt of opening up his own restaurant. Unfortunately, he didn't have enough for a shop...but he did had enough for a beat-up, authentic Royal Italian Navy Sopwitch Baby! So, he used his noodle, and whipped the beat up plane back into shape and gave it a pasta kitchen. Even did the logo himself, thank you very much. Business was good. New Yorkers loved the quirky new joint that's usually parked outside the city, and they can't get enough of the "air-flown" catering!

Unfortunately, again, poor Luigi lost the plane. Those American government people were tight assess about the health regulations of a flying restaurant. Not to worry, Luigi made enough to open up his own shop near broadway now. You can probably find his restaurant today if you look hard enough. The locals don't want the tourists ruining things. His two boys run the place now, bon appetite!

Influences & Inspirations
Two things inspired this logo - Studio Ghibli's Porco Rosso (look it up!) and some vintage Art Deco posters I saw in a magazine.

Somehow, the elements of flight, spaghetti and those two influences clicked in my head.
And it sounded absurd and fun, so I had a go at it.

The Art Deco period inspired me because of the awesome illustrations they used very heavily in their ads. Also, I read they delibrately In this period, people lived with great optimism and really enjoyed life to counter the hardships and sadness of World War 1. This is reflected in their lavish and decorative logos and all other artwork

Porco Rosso gave me a glimpse of what it was like to live in those times, so full of spirit and guts.
Also, Ghibli gave the movie a incredibly memorable touch by injecting the characters with this innocent sense of humour and adventure. I mean, in the first five minutes you'd see air pirates being bullied by kindergarden school GIRLS! And the adult characters do still dream of a better tomorrow, just like how small ids do. I'd watch this movie over and over again!

So, got the humour and the feel of the 1920s from the flying pig anime, and the new style from the period the movie and posters were from the same period. Did a heck of alot of research, especially on the fonts, which must improve. Then I drew everything first by hand, then finished in Adobe Illustrator.

Am still feeling ill, so drew this in a semi-dreamlike state. Just did it for fun, with love. Hope you like it!

Everyone has a chance to twinkle and shine in the night sky, but the most important part is how and who you choose to shine on in the dead of dark."

I've been testing painting techniques in Photoshop and trying to see what kind of colouring I can come up with. I'm not too good yet in realistic art, so I used a lot of photo reference to get the stance of the person right. Painting the hands was the hardest part of this work. I've also recently installed my Wacom drivers and am testing how the pen pressure differentiates the work.

It's been a really thought provoking week whist I've had a bit more time to dedicate to art. This is my way of thanking the stars in my night, for without them it'd be too dark and frightening to move on.

After I saw the cute star plushies from 95percent: New Year Party 2010, I couldn't help illustrating it for this theme. Whenever you're feeling lonely or down, all you have to do is hug them! They will brighten up your day!

For this artwork, I tested myself only using one custom brush with fix 50% opacity & 100% flow. It was kinda tough to blend the colors but I wanted to try out a new style. It came out quite well, plus it's faster than the previous ones. So YAY!

Btw, I decided to dedicate this artwork to 95percent. XD

Okay, when I saw the theme "star" and my punishment is to include a "basin" I was pulling my hair out thinking "I'm so DOOMED!!!". XD

Then a friend suggested "why don't you draw a superstar model in front of the toilet?" and I thought that's a good idea, until when it came to the last day of submission and I was rushing to draw that at work when I suddenly realised my own life and career.

I'm a designer, an artist, a video editor. I am a hidden star! I can create amazing things when I want to with no limits. I guess there's bound to be a hidden star in each and everyone of us. We just gotta open our eyes more and appreciate whatever talent or gift God has grant us :)

So yeah, back to this drawing. Its a last minute sketch of myself seeing through the toilet mirror as a star in my own messy drawing :P

This is an illustration of my original character from a story that I wrote. He has no known name, but he is known as "Dream-maker". He sits in a field where there's no day, only night, and stars fall out of the sky for him. He makes dreams out of stars with his deft hands, and he lets the wind take it down the valley to a town that sleeps at night.

He's a good soul, he'd only make good dreams. :)

This is more of a brush test than and actual idea. Just a simple little black sheep on a plain. I went straight to colour on a Photoshop canvas so I'm pretty happy with the results.

I got lots of ideas for this theme. But decided to go for the most personal one to me. I think the message is already very clear to everyone. So I guess I don't need to explain it.

Anyways, I actually wanted to test out my human illustration esp the body proportion & the hair colouring. But being an idiot, I went overboard and drew 8 ppl! Suffered for it! I also wanted to try out cloth folding colouring but since the time doesn't permit, so I guess I'll do it in another artwork.

Title: Innocent Vietnamese Boy of Agent Orange
Duration: 5 hours 15 minutes
Software: SketchBook Pro & Photoshop CS3

The idea struck me during my trip to Vietnam while I was visiting the handicraft shop. I found that the handicrafts in the shop are done by artists who are affected by a disease called 'Agent Orange'. During the Vietnam War (1962-1971), the U.S. military sprayed a chemical called the ‘Agent Orange’ in South Vietnam, resulting deaths & disabilities as well as birth defects. Parents who are affected constantly giving birth to children with genetic deformities & this follows up to the next generation.

As you can see, the Vietnamese boy in the artwork has no legs due to the 'Agent Orange'. I decided to have him sew an artwork to show how these people make a living despite being a handicapped. The puppy under the table is his pet, not food. I know Vietnamese love to eat dog apparently. (-_-;)

It took me soo long to finish this artwork because I really lack of confidence in my illustration skills esp the colouring part. Made a lot of changes to get it right. Anyways, I'm quite satisfied with the result, though... I felt it could be better somehow.

I originally wanted to do a illustration of some kids playing around, but the idea of Eve just stuck on me.
The drawing was originally just a random sketch of a woman.
Worked on it til it became an image of Eve - about to lose her innocence, for the taste of knowledge.

Left it in outlines cos I felt the color and the linework worked well together.
This also allowed me to color in the apple and make it more "real", more powerful than everything else.

Would like feedback on the snake's and Eve's gestures - do they look softly seductive enough?
I tried hard to create an illusion of weight in their gestures.

At times like these makes us wonder how far can we judge innocence? Or can innocence even be judged when it comes to certain situations?

What i want to portray in this drawing is that; a weapon is as innocent as a child. It only does things that it was created to do without knowing what is right or wrong. Yet it is always seen as the cruel one.

Color scheme is easy. Red for danger, white for light and the dark grey for solid metal. And no i wasn't being lazy... i think ;P

Hi there. This weirdo here is Maiki. She's born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 10th, 1987, and has been brought up there for most of her life. Grew up to become in love with Japan and anything related to their language, culture, food and media arts, and therefore came to Japan for further studies to experience life there and definite never regret it. Jeez, what a Japanophile. She is currently studying Communication Design course in a university in Saitama prefercture of Japan.

Maiki also has this horrible disease called "video game addiction." She loves playing Japanese RPGs (Kingdom Hearts, Tales series and Flight Plan games, to name a few) and some rhythm games, like Taiko no Tatsujin. Owns all current generation gaming consoles except the XBOX360. She would, but people would question what's her actual purpose of being in Japan. Her current goal is to work as a character or interface designer in her favourite video game companies, namely Square Enix and Flight-Plan. Dream on, Maiki. But since she's already in the right place, might as well try grasping for that cloud. For her final year, she's planning to make a visual novel game (think Fate/Stay Night or Higurashi) with Flash.

In her past time, if she's not busy playing games or surfing the Internet, she'd be busy drawing comic strips for the manga club she joined in university, or attending doujin (amateur comics) or game conventions on the weekends. She's also in an amateur group developing their own visual novel games, where she provides character designs and illustrations for. Add up her school's assignments and sudden urges to draw fanarts, you can see that Maiki's a masochistic slave to drawing illustrations. And now she's in Cuttle Inc! Wish her luck!

Hi, I'm Reeis. Got the name from an original character I created in high school. Friends started calling me that, so it stuck. I graduated from Limkokwing in 2008, trained as a Graphic Designer, and have always loved illustrations.

I guess I love the idea of creating life and worlds with the tip of my pencil. Of giving form to these ideas I hold in my head and my heart. I like all sorts of illustrations - from editorial illustrations, to comics - but I'm partial to the Manga style.

Other than illustrations, I generally love random things. From vintage Italian product design to handmade stuff on Etsy, from Matchbow Twenty to Neil Gaiman to Terry Pratchett to Art Spiegelman to Avatar to long ramblings in the night with friends who have known me forever.

I hope to be able to continue improving my illustrations here in Cuttle Inc. Right now, I need to push myself to finish my illustration quicker, form my own illustration style and create a small body of personal work. I've never really been able to finish a drawing, cause of nerves, so Cuttle Inc would be a good place to kick that habit once and for all! I'm grateful for that =)
Also, I've been told I had an eye for color, so I think its about time I created works that proved this.

Yo! Y’ng here! Your typical tomboy who really doesn’t know when to give up on her passion & goals. I’m a graduate from Limkokwing in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Honours Degree in Visual Communication, majoring in Advertising. After my graduation, I undergo a 3-months intensive 3D/Animation training programme organized by CGskill in 2009.

Errr... I have lots of interest actually. I like animation, gaming (fighting, action & RPG), anime, manga, fanfiction, comics, illustration, dancing, singing, sports, collecting figurines & artbooks. Oh! I’m also obsessed with anything that is round, fluffy, & cute. *^^*

I always wanted to do character designing & visual story telling. But my illustration skills is quite weak, both analogue & digital. Plus, I’m looking for a style of my own - maybe a mix of both manga & western style. Last of all, I really-really-really need to speed up in my illustration because I’m taking way too long to finish one piece of work!

Pyro Cut is the "hottest" cuttle among the gang and in the sea. She has a strong addiction towards sea chillies, therefore her characteristics are fiery. She'll always come up with something crazy to spice up any activity, she is super active and playful, loves to have fun and blows out fire when she has a temper. But often she gets bullied by the others as a torch or a lighter... She's a total weirdo and a nut-case but with good intentions.

About the artist:
The artist behind Pyro Cut is none other than Natasha Fazrina Rauf. Passionate in art and story telling, she persuade her studies towards multimedia designs. With a strong influence and support on video editing by her dad and brother, she majored in motion graphics, graduated with Bachelor of Arts (Multimedia) in RMIT 2009 and now currently working as a compositor and special effects artist in a 2D animation company. She dreams of becoming a famous creative director some day.

My name is Daphne (Dainen) Lim. I've filched wild chilies, been chased by puppy packs, and tested pregnant women’s urine in a gynecologist clinic. Diversity is easily found in my portfolio though I’m concentrating on Web Design in the recent time frame. Having completed a Graduate Diploma in Graphic Design and a Bachelors of Art in Multimedia in the Melbourne branch of RMIT, I’m waiting for my chance at a crack in the professional arena.

Going back to Flash (now owned by Adobe), I love hidden object and point-and-click games and can spend hours trying to find the way to the next stage. My biggest idols are Amanita Design and Game House. I also love graphic novels, manga, indie comics, fantasy stories, and perusing through inspirational sites. Melbourne air is great for walks and trinket stores and the occasional mug of synapses-sparking chilled peppermint cocoa.

I can’t wait for CSS3 to be implemented across ALL browsers and hate IE6 with vengeance.

Cuttle Inc works for me because it’ll keep me spiked to go. I’ve always liked the challenge of FMCG (Fast Moving Creative Generation, because it’s awesome that way) and can’t wait to get started on this. It’s time to defy gravity!

Hello! My name is Sara de Souza. As of December 2009, I've just completed my final semester in Multimedia Design in Curtin, Western Australia. I am now currently relaxing (haha) and finishing my portfolio before I look for a job in March 2010. By then I would have graduated with a Bachelors of Multimedia Design.

In my spare time, I absolutely LOVE to web-surf. The topics I usually surf are design/photography related, let it be tutorials or just saturating myself in pretty eye-candy that the world of Design has to offer me. I'm also a photography buff, digital and analog alike. Long live film!

I've dabbled in a really wide range of areas in design. These include graphic design, animation (flash and traditional), interactive flash design, motion graphics, web design and 3D modeling. I've also acquired basic knowledge in the advertising and marketing field.

I am in the midst of finding myself, and finding an area I can specialize in. As of now I am very much a generalist. Haha. Jack of all trades but a master of none.

The goal I have set for myself for Cuttle Inc is that my illustration skills improve over time. Although I seem to be leaning towards vector-illustration, I also want to open myself to different styles in the future. The only goal is to improve in whatever way possible.

This board is important as to show users the consistency of each individual's work.

Legend:

GOLD STAR
Member has submitted work on time.
All submissions with gold stars will be featured in their respective theme posts.
Submissions will be put up on that week's poll for voting.

BLACK STAR
Member has submitted work late.
Members will get a black star if they submitted within one week after the deadline.
All submissions with black stars will still be featured in their respective theme posts.
However, these late posts will be placed at the very bottom at the post and marked as "late".

Dear Cuttles,
Here is a list of rules and regulations we came up with to make sure things runs smoothly and fairly in CUTTLE INC. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve our system, please feel free to voice it out. We hope to keep improving this section so we can make things better and easier for everyone in CUTTLE INC.
Keep in mind, this copy is a working draft. Most of the house rules are finalized, but please note that rules that are highlighted in yellow like this are still up for debate.

CUTTLE INC.’s GOALS
GOAL #1
To create a space for each and every one of us to come up with creative illustrations on a weekly basis.
GOAL #2
To create a community that helps each member to improve as professional illustrators/designers/artists by providing honest feedback and encouraging every on to finish their work ON TIME. We must be able operate like this consistently every week for the whole of 2010. [To be exactly ONE year old =P].
We are to treat CUTTLE INC. as though it is a real illustration company, with an emphasis on meeting deadlines and fulfilling project requirements.

Submission Image Quality
1. The final artwork posted on the Flickr and the blog should be at a MAXIMUM size of 800px by 800px, 72dpi.
2. You can submit artwork in smaller sizes. This is to discourage art theft.
3. You are encouraged to begin your illustrations as a big file (e.g. 4000px by 2000px, 300dpi) but please shrink your final artwork to a maximum of 800px by 800px.
4. You are encouraged insert your own individual signature / water mark in your submissions to guard your work against art theft.
5. There are plans to produce a standard watermark and a new logo for all Cuttle Inc. submissions. We will inform you once it is completed, and see how it goes from there.

Submission Deadlines
1. All Cuttles are to create an illustration based on the weekly theme.
Each Cuttles will take turns to come up with a weekly theme and its punishment.
Please take some time to come up with a few themes and its punishments before your turn comes up. So far, Reeis, Y’ng, Sara and Daphne have contributed the themes on the blog.
2. The weekly theme will be announced on the CUTTLE INC. BLOG EVERY THURSDAY, BY 8:00PM (Malaysian time).
3. All artworks must be submitted to the CUTTLE INC. FLICKR POOL EVERY WEDNESDAY, LATEST BY 11:59PM (Malaysian time).
4. Sara (our Webmaster) needs to upload your work from Flickr onto the blog, so please make her job a little easier. She’s doing all us a very big favor, ok? Don’t be late or you’ll only be causing her trouble. You don’t want to cause trouble to someone as nice as her, now do you? =)
5. If you are going to miss deadlines for any reason, inform Sara or Y’ng (our Chaser/ Disciplinarian) beforehand so they can make the necessary arrangements.
What this all means – you get your new theme on Thursday, you get Friday and the entire weekend to work on it, Saturday to ask for help, and then a few days extra before you need to post it up on Wednesday. Thanks Daphne for the really good scheduling idea!

Discussions
1. Discussion night is every SATURDAY, 9:00PM (Malaysian time) on MSN.
2. Begin a forum by contacting Reeis, Y’ng or Sara or any other Cuttle member.
Then, start inviting everyone else.
3. All members should at least drop by and say hi and check the discussion, even if you have nothing to discuss. We’d like to take this time to check up on each other anyway.
So, don’t be a stranger =)
4. You are encouraged to get or give feedback / discuss the weekly theme / speak your mind / during these sessions.
5. Members are also encouraged to open hold a forum if there are any complaints / suggestions / random happy news / miscellaneous things to share about CUTTLE INC.
6. You can also use this time to get feedback to improve your weekly illustration / work-in-progress before you submit it on Wednesday.

Punishment
1. This is to encourage CUTTLES to complete their work on time =)
2. Every weekly theme will have its own unique PUNISHMENT theme. If you have missed a deadline, you have to submit the theme you have missed with its additional PUNISHMENT theme
3. It works like this:

Current Week’s Theme : MEATBALLS
Punishment Theme : CIRCUS

• If you have met the previous week’s deadline
= Just draw this week’s theme, MEATBALLS

• If you DID NOT meet the deadline
= Draw this week’s theme MEATBALLS, combined with the image of a CIRCUS
= You CANNOT do MEATBALS and FAIRIES or anything else other CIRCUS.
= If you step out of the theme, be prepared to get feedback from your darling Cuttles =)

4. If you have missed a few deadlines in a row, you must complete ALL the themes you’ve missed and its punishment. Your work will be displayed in different sections of the blog when you miss your deadlines. Please refer to the Assignment Board section below for full details.
5. You CANNOT change the Punishment theme. You MUST follow the additional theme.
If you fail to keep to the Punishment theme, you will need to re-do your submission.
It’s only fair to everyone else who’s doing the same punishment as you are.
6. CUTTLES are free to use the Punishment’s additional theme even if you are not being punished. Just make it very clear in your artwork’s description that you voluntarily did the Punishment. You must make this clear to avoid confusion / causing a fuss in your artwork’s description.
Take the Punishment as a challenge – it’s a bloody satisfying feeling when you manage to solve the strange combination of themes and produce a single artwork that delivers both themes well.

Assignment Board & Skull Yard
1. The Assignment Board and the Skull Yard are separate sections from the Weekly Theme Gallery.
2. The reason why we have this board so to show you your progress and to encourage you to keep submitting your weekly themes consistently.

Here are the types of icons that you’ll see on the board:

• GOLD STAR:
For those who pass up the current theme on time.

• BLACK STAR:
For those who pass up the current theme late.
You are given one week extra to finish it.
If you manage to finish within the week, your work will be posted in the Weekly Theme Gallery along with everyone else’s works.

• BLACK SKULL:
For those who did not submit at all.
If you fail to finish the current theme even after an extra week given,
your BLACK STAR will be changed to a BLACK SKULL.

• GOLD SKULL:
For those who still submit their work even though they have missed their deadlines by 2 weeks or more. Your work will be placed in the SKULL YARD.

3. If you still want to produce your work even though you got a BLACK SKULL, I will encourage you to do so. You work will be up at the SKULL YARD instead.
4. Keep note that the SKULL YARD is not a bad place! It’s a place for you to still have a chance to submit work that you cannot finish due to some valid reasons. In fact, your BLACK SKULL will change to GOLD SKULL in your assignment board.
5. A GOLD SKULL shows that you are hardworking & serious in your work. It also allows you the chance to get comments for it and to improve yourself from there.
However, you MUST state the reason why you missed your deadline in your artwork’s description. If you don’t tell us your reason, we won’t post your work in the SKULL YARD.
6. Telling us your reason helps defend your late submission – sometimes life gets in the way, we understand. It will also serve as a strong reminder for you to overcome your personal obstacles and deliver your work like a pro.

what is Cuttle Inc?

We are a group of Design graduates and undergraduates. We come from a various Design backgrounds, spanning anything from illustration to motion graphics design.

Cuttle Inc was established as a weekly illustration group. The task for each of its members is to complete a piece of illustration/art work based on the given theme. The theme is chosen/generated at random, and it changes every week.

The objective behind this group is instill motivation amongst its group members and keep them in a productivity mood or state. It also serves as a platform to reach individual members' goal.
